History

West Hickory Baptist Church traces its origin to a mission started in the late 1800's by the First Baptist Church of Hickory. The mission continued for several years meeting in homes and rented spaces. On February 24, 1907, West Hickory Baptist Church was organized with 18 charter members. The church grew steadily in the early decades of the twentieth century, even through the Great Depression and World War II. In the 1950's the post-war boom was evident at West Hickory as membership and ministry involvement expanded greatly. The current church building was completed in the 1950's. The challenges to be a vital witness to our community are great, but God is faithful and we have seen in the past several years both numerical and spiritual growth. Our prayer is that God would continue to bring renewal and further spiritual awakening to West Hickory Baptist Church.
